What is your favourite arenas for WWE?

Mine are.........

Rogers Centre (Skydome) in Toronto Canada- I've always enjoyed the Skydome. I remember going to a lot of Blue Jay games but my favourite memory of the Skydome was seeing WWF Wrestlemania X8 live! I sat 18th row and that was one of my fav moments.

Air Canada Centre (Toronto, Canada) I like the ACC, its a good arena, GREAT for sound and just good to be in. Any seat in the ACC is a good one. Ive been to alot of events there. Ive been to every WWE event in the Air Canada Centre since October 2000.

Staples Center (Los Angeles, CA) Ive never been there before, but I like the way it looks and I will go there some day! They get alot of Raws there :(

Madison Square Garden (New York City, NY) Alot of good stuff with WWF/WWE happened at the garden so its one of my fav places to watch wrestling on tv from. I will also go there one day, maybe next year.

I would agree with you Madison Square Garden (New York City,NY).

Reply:The only place Ive seen WWE live was at Madison Square Garden in NYC and I wouldn't want to see WWE anywhere else. There's something about the atmosphere at the Garden you can't explain and the fans are really into it. FYI Raw will be at the Garden on Sept 11 2006 and Summerslam 2007 will also take place at the Garden.
Reply:The Toyota Center(Houston, TX) I went live to No Mercy there.

The American Airlines Arena(Dallas,TX)

Help, engagement ring valuation?

I have just had made; in Hatton Garden, London (Diamond Centre of London), a diamond engagement ring, as follows;

- Round Centre Stone - 1.26 carats quality GVS1

- Platinum band with 10 shoulder diamonds (5 each side) same quality as above and weighing in, in total to 0.40 carats.

Apparently I paid significantly less than the retail price but what is the retail price, in your opinon???

Help, engagement ring valuation?
You have not given us enough infromation.

What is the grade of cut (or at least the depth and table figures)?

Is the G at the start of GVS1 the colour grading? g is the lowest rating in the colourless range.

Coupled with your above info and if these two aspects are at the top of their charts I would expect the ring to go for about $11,000, if at the lower end $5000.

How much did you pay?
Reply:If you bought your diamond at a retail store, you paid 300% too much. This is a well known fact if you know anything about diamonds at all. You say it's a VS1.... what's the color? VS1 is the clarity, what's the cut? Is it good, fair, excellent? The polish? The symmetry? Where is it certified from? I could go on and on...... Do you have a Gemex Light Report on the diamond? Is it a branded diamond? Is it a hearts and arrows cut?...... yada yada yada.... Ok, if it's a hearts and arrows, and it's excellent in all areas, and say a J in color.... your ring should have a US retail of around $18,000 to $20,000..... But, that's just an educated guess without all your info....
Reply:You need to ask a certified jewelry appraiser
Reply:Unless there is a jewler on here your probley not going to get a good estimate. I would go to a different jewler (maybe to buy a wedding day gift) and ask what the cost of this ring would be.
Reply:I don't really know but if you browse online stores where you can build your own engagement ring, you will be able to find the same quality diamonds and similar or same band.

Check some here

http://www.buildengagementring.net/engag...
Reply:Do you have a certificate on each of the diamonds with the number? That will help...take it to another jewler and have it appraised. Retail price has nothing to do with actual value.

Sematic deviations, Phonetic parellelisms, what r they in sonnet18 of shakespear and in th novel of oscar wild

The studio was filled with the rich odour of roses, and when the light summer wind stirred amidst the trees of the garden, there came through the open door the heavy scent of the lilac, or the more delicate perfume of the pink-flowering thorn.

From the corner of the divan of Persian saddle-bags on which he was lying, smoking, as was his custom, innumerable cigarettes, Lord Henry Wotton could just catch the gleam of the honey-sweet and honey-coloured blossoms of a laburnum, whose tremulous branches seemed hardly able to bear the burden of a beauty so flamelike as theirs; and now and then the fantastic shadows of birds in flight flitted across the long tussore-silk curtains that were stretched in front of the huge window, producing a kind of momentary Japanese effect, and making him think of those pallid, jade-faced painters of Tokyo who, through the medium of an art that is necessarily immobile, seek to convey the sense of swiftness and motion. The sullen murmur of the bees shouldering their way through the long unmown grass, or circling with monotonous insistence round the dusty gilt horns of the straggling woodbine, seemed to make the stillness more oppressive. The dim roar of London was like the bourdon note of a distant organ.

In the centre of the room, clamped to an upright easel, stood the full-length portrait of a young man of extraordinary personal beauty, and in front of it, some little distance away, was sitting the artist himself, Basil Hallward, whose sudden disappearance some years ago caused, at the time, such public excitement and gave rise to so many strange conjectures.

As the painter looked at the gracious and comely form he had so skilfully mirrored in his art, a smile of pleasure passed across his face, and seemed about to linger there. But he suddenly started up, and closing his eyes, placed his fingers upon the lids, as though he sought to imprison within his brain some curious dream from which he feared he might awake.

  • UK only: What do you think of Wythenshaw (North West UK))?

I am about to buy my first house in the North West with someone.

We have been looking in Saldord, which is very close to the centre of Manchester but never found a good 3 bed house with garden in this area - alsways something wrong.. . too expensive or the garden is inexistant..

We ended up finding something in Wythenshaw, which doesn't seem to have a heart nor a soul as a town.. only a big gym and a brand new Asda. Let me know if I am wrong because the house we found is really nice and has a garden!

    We both work in Didsbury...

    Thanks

UK only: What do you think of Wythenshaw (North West UK))?
Hmmm wythenshawe is a bit rough in places but then so is Salford. If you work in Didsbury then I think that is the best place to look for activities - meals, pubs etc. Also Fallowfield is good for activities. Hard to find a house in Manchester generally at the mo.
Reply:No, you are not wrong about Wythenshaw. It has been recognised as a dump for many, many years. The problem is the 1960's shopping centre, lack of investment by Manchester City Council time and time again, and the high crime rate. Why didn't you try Stockport? Seven miles from the city centre, good shopping facilities, good train services, good bus services-No 42 to Disdbury every 20 minutes, and with in driving distance of Didsbury too. Good council properties, reasonable rents, and nice areas to live in too-with gardens! And the trams are coming too-through Didsbury-in the next five years. And consider Heaton Moor and Heaton Mersey, Reddish too. Forget Cheadle, Hazel Grove, Bramhall, and Gatley-to expensive.
Reply:I just answered your other question...

Don't consider Wythenshawe, it is really rough and is a high crime area.

Try other areas of South Manchester - Fallowfield, Withington (both very studenty, but OK), Heald Green or into Cheshire, Gatley or Cheadle. More expensive than Wythenshawe, but worth it.
Reply:It's a nice place i've heard but it can get cold in the winter!! (lots of snow!!!!)
Reply:Wythenshaw was originally quite a 'posh' suburb of Manchester. Like all areas when they get over 100 years old they tend to need constant re generation.

You are well placed to access the city amenities and Wythenshaw is definitely better than Salford as an overall area. Check with the local police station and ask for the general crime rate in the area. Take a look at the local primary school is the building in good repair and is there a lot of litter in the area. That will tell you whether the local residents have some pride. I think you will find that the people of Wythenshaw do care about their area for the most part.
Reply:I would go for Wythenshaw over Salford. Salford has alwats seemed a bit rough to me (sorry mancunians!!)

What is the distance from Washington DC to...?

Williamsburg, Virginia (Busch gardens Europe themepark) by car? We are going to america in July and we were wondering how many miles and hours it would take us. Can you fly from Washington DC to Williamsburg? Train? Bus?

Thankyou. WE really want to get to Busch Gardens Europe and we will be coming from Washington DC. We are from Australia. Where is Williamsburg close to? Where is the bigger centre (with a greater population) that we could fly into and then drive to williamsburg if the distance is too great?

What is the distance from Washington DC to...?
Driving: 155 miles, 2 hours 35 minutes with no traffic.

    http://tinyurl.com/2bgb8w

There are also bus tour daytrips from Washington:

    http://tinyurl.com/23fu5p

You can also fly from Washington and other major cities along the East Coast to the nearest major airport (Norfolk, Virginia) and it's a 40 mile drive from there. But the flights cater to businesspeople and are fairly expensive for such a short distance.

Why one litreray text might be regarded as more literary than the other?
Defining Literariness can be problematic but I believe that it depends on readers and critic's tastes.

Literariness is the sum of special linguistic and formal properties that distinguish literary texts from non‐literary texts, according to the theories of Russian Formalism. The leading Formalist Roman Jakobson declared in 1919 that ‘the object of literary science is not literature but literariness, that is, what makes a given work a literary work’. Rather than seek abstract qualities like imagination as the basis of literariness, the Formalists set out to define the observable ‘devices’ by which literary texts—especially poems— foreground their own language, in metre, rhyme, and other patterns of sound and repetition. Literariness was understood in terms of defamiliarization, as a series of deviations from ‘ordinary’ language. It thus appears as a relation between different uses of language, in which the contrasted uses are liable to shift according to changed contexts.

Try to compare the Shakespeare's sonnet to Wilde's Picture of Dorian that you have presented. Which one employs vivid images and is more memorable?

Is there a website with funky and stunning wedding flower centre pieces?
I've always had the best luck with www.weddingchannel.com or www.theknot.com ... another great thing to do is take a look at florist websites and take a look at their picture slideshows.
Reply:I suggest visiting weddinglenox.com and post your request. Their matching system http://www.weddinglenox.com/membersignup... will match you up with local vendors with pricing you specified. I tried it and have good result as I only recieved response from vendors according to my request.

One problem I had with my wedding is that it is hard to locate vendors in most website as most likely they group by states and there are too many of them that's too far from me and I have to look at each site to figure out.

The sites I provide above have a easy to use layout to show you pictures, pricing and location in one page plus, you can send out your inquiry for matching vendor to contact you. That save me lots of time to locate the best vendors with the right price.

Calibrichoa or Million bells is a fabulos plant used as a filler or a spiller in containers, Also it has been used as edging plantings on raised flower beds, It also makes a beautiful hanging Basket. Not knowing where u live I cannot say it will hold on for more than one year but here where I live I have folks coming into the nursery all the time telling me their million bell survival stories. LOL.

Their culture is pretty simple, Water when dry and feed regularly. You can pinch to promote a bushire plant, but it's self branching habit makes this fairly unnecessary. The plants and flowers hold up to a remarkable amount of rain, with little damage, it even may helpp deadhead. Also a unnecessary step.

You have recieved one of the best plants for someone with a minimum of plant knowledge, go forth and be beautiful

Reply:Go to Lowes or Home Depot and get an Aqua Globe. You fill it with water, stick it in the dirt and water is released from the globe only when the plan needs it.
Reply:Rule of thumb...keep moist..never let it dry out and don't soak it.

I was brought up in wythenshawe ....Things changed over he years and it is an up and coming area .. with rising house prices

Wythenshawe is quite central which is handy and has a good town centre ...

Not too far from disbury either .. your home is what you make it .. speak to the neighbours if you are concerned

Edit .. yes it is a huge council estate which explains the house prices but not all people who live on council estates are trash ...

Council estates have community spirit ... i used to live in woodhouse park and we were never bothered ...

I would speak to the neighbours as sometimes the nice house may be the wrong move ...

Go and have a drive round in the evening to get an idea of what night time is like if you are concerned ..

Maybe i am remembering the old days ... but i have not lived there for years

I was terrified, especially on entering the estate when leaving Didsbury off the dual-carriage. Everyone that got on either smoked, swore or spat, sometimes in different orders. Their tattoos were spelt wrong and most of them had an alcoholic drink in hand. Why leave Didsbury anyway, its really smart!?.

We used to live in Gatley (quite close) which is quite a nice area, and when we had our village fete, the Wythenshawe families used to come down with their pit bulls and tattooed bellies hanging out.

It's an awful place - if you're looking for South Manchester area, try Sale, Gatley, Cheadle, even Withington, but don't go to Wythenshawe - it's cheaper for a reason.

There's no point having a nice house and garden if you don't feel safe or happy in the neighbourhood.

Introducing new dog to adult cat and two 5 month old kittens?

I rescued a cat approx 8 months ago from being a stray found in a city centre. She adapted well to living in a house and was pregnant, eventually giving birth to kittens which are now 5 months old (cat has since been spayed!) Everything is great with them. I'm currently in the process of rescuing a 2 year old male german shepherd. He's got a great nature: I bought him home yesterday to see how he was with cats %26amp; he didn't bark or seem bothered by them at all. I'd say he's live with cats before. The cats however didn't react well at all. I kept them separate rooms with glass doors for the introduction. Both kittens were hissing and just ran off upstairs at first opportunity. Mum cat was hissing/spitting/growling and at one stage body-slamming the glass doors! I tried introducing them in the garden - watching each other at a distance, but she continued hissing quite badly. I'm not expecting instant friendship, but the dog should be coming home this week! Any ideas how to make it easier?

Introducing new dog to adult cat and two 5 month old kittens?
It will take time for the cat to adjust to the new dog.

I have several indoor cats and several dogs. I have a gate across the door way to one room. It's high enough off of the ground that the cats can go underneath it but low enough that the dogs can't. This gives the cats a safe room.

Don't force the issue. If the cats want nothing to do with the dog, so be it. They will slowly adjust and get curious enough to come check out the dog at a distance. Just give them a place that they can seek refuge until the learn that the dog is not a threat.
Reply:It's going to take time and patience no matter how you do it.

I would put them in rooms seperated by glass until they calm down, then taking mom seperately from the kittens to introduce. The kittens that way cannot learn bad habits from mom about the body-slamming, shame, she was just protecting her kittens in her mind.

The kittens will react like they are at first but will quickly get used to the dog, mom will take a longer time to get used to it if she's not used to dogs.

My cat never knew any dogs before coming to us, and at one stage a small poodle used to come and visit us in the townhouse we lived in (poor thing got scared in storms and used to come and hide out if nobody was at his home). As soon as our cat (she was about two at that stage) got the idea that the dog wasn't interested in her, she calmed right down.
Reply:i have a rescue kitten myself and recently bought a puppy my kitten would his at first especially as i had rescued his mother later on she was pregnant so i had to rehome her. after she went my puppy and kitten got on great they best of friends. i would just let them work it out. try feeding them together. she may just be protective over her babies and once she knows the dog is not a threat she should be ok

From the corner of the divan of Persian saddle-bags on which he was lying, smoking, as was his custom, innumerable cigarettes, Lord Henry Wotton could just catch the gleam of the honey-sweet and honey-coloured blossoms of a laburnum, whose tremulous branches seemed hardly able to bear the burden of a beauty so flame like as theirs; and now and then the fantastic shadows of birds in flight flitted across the long tussore-silk curtains that were stretched in front of the huge window, producing a kind of momentary Japanese effect, and making him think of those pallid, jade-faced painters of Tokyo who, through the medium of an art that is necessarily immobile, seek to convey the sense of swiftness and motion.

Should I cut back my banana plant or leave it?

I cut it back and covered it with gardeners fabric with a bin bag over the top last year and the centre went mouldy over winter. I replanted it and it did have little new plants that sprouted, but this time I'd like to keep the whole plant if possible. As there is likely to be a frost tonight I am worried and unsure whether just to leave it.

The banana plant is about 15ft high and planted in a very large pot in a London garden.

www.architecturalplants.com recommend cutting back with knife - anyone got a better idea?

    Thanks

Should I cut back my banana plant or leave it?
Leaves are damaged at 32°F (0°C), plant will grow back from the root (corm)

Winter is the banana's most crucial period. Extended wet-feet, however, will kill them at any time of the year.

During winter when ambient temperatures are below 55 degrees F, growth is very slow and moisture requirements are low. Irrigate sparingly or not at all if soil is damp. Never add fertilizer to cold, wet soil.

Freezing temperatures will kill the foliage. In most areas bananas require wind protection for best appearance and maximum yield.

Frost Protection: Bananas flourish best under uniformly warm conditions but can survive 28° F for short periods. If the temperature does not fall below 22° F and the cold period is short, the underground rhizome will usually survive. To keep the plants that are above ground producing, protection against low temperatures is very important. Wrap trunk or cover with blanket if the plants are small and low temperatures are predicted.
Reply:Hey Wondercat, I don't know a thing about London's weather,{even though my ancestors are from London}, but if you have frost and ice and freezing temps., your leaves are going to burn unless you cover them with frost cloth everyday and take it off when temps reach above 50 during the day. Do you really want to do this? Covering the whole plant basically on a daily basis is not going to be easy. Your first answer is about the best one, except you may need to hack it with a chain saw instead of a knife. Your raising a tropical plant, it has to have a warm atmosphere in order to keep the leaves. Unless you have 15 feet ceilings and can bring it in door during the winter, or can cover with the frost cloth, be content to raise it again next spring. You did good though when you repotted it. It will be ready for next year.

P.S. do you know any Bracketts, or Bruces.
Reply:I agree with the above answer but instead of just tying the leaves around it i would also wrap it round with fleece to be on th e safe side
Reply:Hi cut off all leaves just below the leaves then get four canes and place around out side about 18" then wrap chicken wire around canes. Then fill inside with straw all the way down and over plant. This will keep plant frost free till next year check ever few weeks and if the straw is starting to get mouldy change before it gets to the plant.
Reply:all you should do is fold the leaves down and tie them with gardening twine
Reply:I cut mine back with a kitchen knife or even a hacksaw blade.

I've cut them back before and after a freeze. Either way, they

    came back next spring.

Any money saving ideas for a small wedding?

We are having a garden wedding for 30, and our reception at a lovely reception centre. They do all the food and beverages and the ceremony will be held there also. This is costing half my budget. How can I cut costs everywhere else? I haven't got anything else yet and my budget is around $7000AUD.

Any money saving ideas for a small wedding?
    hi there

check out www.weddingcentral.com.au this website can help you save money regarding your wedding.

hope this helps and good luck!!
Reply:You can do your invitations and programs yourself. We did, and they turned out really nice. I ordered really pretty paper and printed them on our printer here at home. I made the ink color to match one of the colors on the invitation, and it looked professional. We had 60 people at our wedding, so we sent out about 32 invitations. It only cost me around $100 for 50 invitations (with all the envelopes), 100 thank you cards, with envelopes (which I used for place cards, too) and the program paper. http://www.invitationpaper.com/index.htm...

Skip things that aren't very important so you can spend more on things that are. You can use silk flowers for everyone except your bouquet, that will save some money. Have your centerpieces be simple and basic, nothing too elaborate. Bowls with candles, or seashells, fall leaves, depending on the colors of your wedding. Fruit in a vase or bowl looks really cool. I hope these ideas help.
Reply:You were smart to choose a garden for your wedding. You don't have to worry about renting a limo or spending a ton of money on flowers to decorate your site. Try using balloons as decorations. They are cheap, easy enough for you to do yourself, and they can be configured in dramatic arrangements. Here are a couple of websites to help you get started: http://www.balloonbasics.com/BALLOON_DEC... and http://www.balloons-galore.net/balloon_a...

Enlist the help of family and friends. If you or a friend sews, perhaps you can make your wedding gown.

If there is a flower market in your area, try purchasing flowers for bouquets that can be hand-tied with ribbons or "cuffed" with a pretty bracelet. Ironically, carnations are inexpensive and they last longer than delicate flowers like lillies and orchids.

If you have an inkjet printer, you can print your own invitations. In fact, your guest list is small enough that you can rubber stamp and handmake your invitations.

Contact a photography school in the area to see about hiring a photographer or videographer.

Instead of hiring a band or string quartet, consider burning a CD of your and your fiance's favorite songs. You can burn additional copies to give to each of your guests.

Keep it simple. Everything will appear very elegant.

where abouts is the wedding as this might help with answers.

When you go shopping even if it's in a normal store, BARGAIN them down, they don't expect it so they normally do put prices dowm.

    I bargained every thing down.

Instead of flowers we are having these awesome grecian style centrepieces with red and green grapes hanging out of them. cheap.

we are using our own cake for dessert and the reception people will serve it with cream and strawberries to each guest (free of charge). This saved us $1000 as we are having 100 guests. I asked the cateres and they were fine with that. and that was at a fancy hotel too.

Make your own invites. saves $$$

Ask a family friend (older) to be the photographer.

We didn't hire cars. all us girls are pilling into a hire mini van done up with the ribbons etc, more fun that way.

The food and alcohol is the most expensive.

I looked on ebay.com a lot you can buy heaps in bulk.

email me if you want any other ideas.

Reply:Suzie you can download all your own music onto a laptop and play it through some speakers. We did this and had a friends young son play DJ, he thought it was way cool and it was very inexpensive. You can also make your own cupcakes and put your monograms on the top as my wife did. If you go to a supplier of artifical flowers you can buy in bulk and make your own bouquets. Just some ideas that we did a little over 2 months ago. Good luck and happy marriage.

Reply:We asked everyone local to be a part of our wedding. They loved being part of the decorating and preparation. Find out your talent pool and ask people to use their talent to make your wedding memorable. I'll bet there's someone with DJ talent. Someone with a flower garden. Someone who bakes. Someone who could chauffeur. Invite them to help.

We did a wedding for a lot less than your budget. Her father said we could keep whatever was left from the budget. We were both in grad school, so that meant a lot to us.

Also, the dress doesn't have to be, I say this with respect, ridiculously expensive. It's a one-shot dress. And then you'll have to store is for twenty years only to have your daughter or daughter-in-law not wish to wear it. Get a plain basic dress, and add wisps of fabric, pearls, ribbons, flowers and you get away for a few hundred dollars. You'll have a dress that you can wear later, and no one will recognize it from the wedding. One of our talented people actually sewed my wife's dress for less than $100. The silk material came from China.
Reply:I had a really small budget for my wedding too. My wedding dress was actually a prom dress a lot less expensive and just as pretty. I made my bouquet, My husband made our cake. We did everything ourselves with help from friends and family. It turned out really nice, you would have never of known that we did it all. Even my dress looked like a wedding dress.
Reply:Well, you could ask friends to make decorations for you. I would say the same about photos and DJ, however, when I got married I read some wedding planning books (such as "The Idiot's Guide To Planning A Wedding") which said that you should not have friends do things because they're not professionals, and if they mess up, you cannot have it done over and it may ruin your friendship.
Reply:If you do organise anything tell them it is for a party rather than a wedding. We found that as soon as you mentioned the word wedding, out came the white frills and the $$$$. We got married in our park, where we got engaged, and had a big catered bbq feast in our backyard, which we hired tables and chairs. We asked our friends if they knew where we could get great wine at a great price, and anything else we needed, and we received so much help.

At the end of the day we spent just over $6000 with 50 guests and had heaps of wine left over. It was what we wanted and everyone said they wished they had done what we had and what a great day they had.

Just remember it is your day, and everyone gets to share with you.

    Problems with a honey suckle?

i bought a potted honey suckle about one metre high from a garden centre, i repotted it in a larger pot a few days later and every thing was fine. it put on 3 feet of growth with out any problems. but just a few days ago as i was watering it, i noticed a quite few fresh healthy green leaves which the honey suckle had dropped, as i slightly shook the plant more leaves fell off,i also noticed the miniture leaves the plant grew on the old growth when i got the plants, have dried up ,curled, turned yellow and died. what is going on, is my plant dieing, what can i do to stop my honey suckle dropping it's leaves?

    Problems with a honey suckle?
I think you answered your own question there. If the new growth has dried up then it is not getting enough water. Be careful though Honeysuckle like water but not too much. Growing anything in a pot is very risky when it comes to watering so as a previous answer suggested planting it out may be best. Try watering it daily with a small amount of water. As suggested remove all the dead leaves so the plant doesn't waste it's energy trying to repair the damage. I honestly think that the plant may die if you don't plant it out and give it a lot of TLC for the next few weeks. When it does start to pick up a little bit then try using a feed on it such as phostrogen but use the time release granules NOT the one you mix with water. Good luck!!

P.S. Check the soil before watering. If it is moist then don't give it any water. If it is dry and the water sits on tp of the soil when you water it then you have allowed it to dry out so give it a little extra each time you water or increase the number of times you water it.
Reply:remove all the leaves that look unhealthy. Give it some extra TLC for a few weeks and hope that it gets better.

Sounds like it has a disease
Reply:has it been in the wind ,it sound like wind chill or to much very hot sun,not been watered and let dry out, or to much water ?
Reply:I would go with the too windy idea, or over watering.
Reply:wind chill i think.it might not like being in a pot try it in ground near fence you want it to climb up.

Am doing a 12 hour shift on a Sunday and am 17 years old. Illega?

    Hi

I have a job at a garden centre and we have a stock take coming up this Sunday. They have a lot of weekend staff all who are students and they have basically forced us into working a 12 hour shift on Sunday as well as working 6 on the Saturday. We are entitled to an hour and a half break but we don't get paid for an hour of that. I'm sure i've heard somewhere that on a Sunday under 18's aren't supposed to work over 9 hours and a worker told me we're too young to work it. It starts at 9am and finsihes at 9pm and i have to wake up for school the next day for 6:30. Argh!!! Is there anything here that is illegal at all?Working it is going to be hard but the way they forced us into saying yes was terrible, they just assumed we would and asked us if it would be 9am till 9pm or 11am till 11pm.

Any legit suggestions will be welcomed as usual

    thank you

call legal aid, they should know.
Reply:Depends ENTIRELY on State law, and you didn't tell us where you are.

Sorry, but England doesn't limit the hours that can legally be worked by a person ever the minimum school leaving age (16) to any less than those that can be legally worked by an adult.

Your employer can't legally require you to work more than 16 hours in one day, nor more than 60 hours in any 5 day period, nor more than 10 consecutive days, but that's it. (He can *ask* you to, but you have the right to say yes or no as you choose.)

Look on the bright side.... anything over 8 hours in a day in England is time-and-a-half. In 'most' US States, even that isn't required (Although it is in my State)

Sounds like you're in the UK, based upon your spelling and other terms.

If you are in the UK, then here is the information you need:

    16 and 17 year olds

If you're no longer at school and you're 16 or 17, the law refers to you as a young worker. Because you will no longer be at school, there are fewer restrictions on when you can work and for how long, but there are still some rules.

You'll only be able to work for eight hours every day, or a total of 40 hours over the course of a week. You cannot usually work an overnight shift either, but there are some exceptional circumstances where you can.

Because you've reached school leaving age, you may find that employers may be more willing to offer you part-time or full-time employment. You're also not limited to just 'light work', so you'll be allowed to work in places like a busy shop, restaurant kitchen or as a waiter or waitress.

    See:

    and

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/E...

    Another helpful website:

    http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/individuals/

So, if you're in the UK, then IT IS NOT OKAY to work 12 hours in a day!

If you're in CA, unless you've graduated from high school, you cannot work more than 8 hours in a day.

    Hope this helps! ^_^
Reply:Sucks, but since it isn't a school day, they can work you that long.
Reply:Yes, it is illegal based on Federal Laws for employing minors under the age of 18. I think you can only work until 6 or 7pm. Check out www.youthrules.gov. Good Luck.

Anyone know what type of tomato plant this is?

Hi this tomato plant was bought for me from a garden centre (see picture http://s284.photobucket.com/albums/ll37/...

I'm wondering if this is a bush or upright type and whether I need to support it with canes? It came with the label 'plum tomato' and says it is 'heavy cropping with a vigorous bush' does this mean that is is a bush type? Forgive me if this seems a silly question I am a complete novice.

I am growing this plant on a sunny windowsill have had it for about three weeks now. Any tips would be great as I am clueless! Thanks

Anyone know what type of tomato plant this is?
Sounds like a bush type to me, but it's impossible to tell at this size. If I were you I'd give it a stake anyway, and just be prepared to give it more support in case it vines. Make sure you know how to prune it too; look here:

    http://www.acfaa.org/version%20eng/clubs...

    Hope this helps : )
Reply:It will tend to be a bush type as it is a heavy cropping plum tomato, however all tomato plants would grow as bush types they produce side shoots on the main stem. You can then pinch out the side shoots to get a tall upright plant or leave them and get a bush tomato. As you have a heavy cropping plum tomato, you would not want a tall plant as the weight of the fruit would weigh the plant down and may even cause it to collapse. So let your plants grow naturally and leave the side shoots in, I think you will need a wide windowsill, don't forget to re-pot the plants as soon as roots appear out of the bottom of the pot. Move up to a 12inch pot and start feeding as soon as the first fruit start to set ------- good luck
    Reply:Hi,

Plum tomato's are normally of the bush type, this means, they don't need the side shoots taking out.

Larger plants will still need staking, they are best staked using bamboo canes around the plants, a tying string around the canes.

Plum tomato's are great in the kitchen, adding flavour to stews, soups, anything really. Just sit back wait for them to grow, and enjoy them.
Reply:Any tomato with a heavy crop sounds like it will need a stake.

I would play it safe and give it a stake because they will not warn you and suddenly snap.

You can get a very little 3 foot long pole for it.
    Reply:no.
Reply:I can't tell if its a bush type or not. I assume that you will be moving it outside when the weather premits. I would put a cage in the pot for support, it won't hurt it and will support it when it gets fruit. Plum tomatoes are great for sauce! Enjoy!

If he is still young, that could also be a reason for his quietness but like she said, it could also be personality. I have 6 tiels, 5 boys and 1 girl (lutino girl) and some of my boys are loud but I have one who is extremely quiet, rarely wants to come out and just real mellow. Others come running to me for scritches and come right out. They do have their own personalities.

My bird is a rescue bird - that had never seen a toy until she came to me. It took a few months before she showed any interest in her toys. Now she plays with them a lot! Keep trying different types and sizes of toys to find out what you bird likes. Encourage your bird to play with his toys by playing with them yourself in front of him.
Reply:First, make certain that the vet you take the bird to is an Avian vet, with experience treating Cockatiels.

Then, make certain that the bird is getting the proper nutrition, and that you interact with him when he is out of his cage. Perhaps the toys just aren't enough stimuli for him.

Finally, remember that birds, just like people, have different personalities. Perhaps your tiel is just an introvert.

Doesn't play with the toys and will only come out of his cage on his own everyonce in a while. Other wise I have to take him out. Mine does the same bitting thing too. Wierd!

What do aubergine seedlings look like?

    I planted some aubergine seeds a while ago and they are growing well {or so I thought}, when we went to a garden centre they had aubergine seedlings which looked totally different to my seedlings. Mine are black beauty variety and they look just like grass growing {or that's what my hubby says}, I've stuck with them but now I am worried as when I Googled aubergine seedlings I didn't see any that looked like mine, I think they are more squash like looking plants, do I give up or do you think my grass like looking seedlings could be aubergine {they were from a new sealed pack}

Tree Frogs: What should I use to sterilise the things in tank?

I have been told by various sources to sterilise anything I put in the terrarium for my tree frog I am getting, is there some thing I can buy to do this without boiling everything because there is simply too much stuff to do the sterilisation by boiling water method. I have thought about soaking the stuff in a milton solution like when you sterilise babies bottles and such like, as this is the mildest thing I can think off as it doesnt harm us at all, but is this going to harm my tree frog if any traces are left behind?

It is mostly the aggregate I want to ask about , small pebbles and stuff from a garden centre and I dont know about what is the best way to clean these to make sure there is nothing on them going to harm my tree frogs.

Tree Frogs: What should I use to sterilise the things in tank?
pebbles are easy. What you need to do is dilute Clorox real well and soak the pebbles in it overnight. Then rinse off the pebbles with a hose and rinse it out real good!! Then let the pebbles soak in a bucket of fresh water for a day or so and wham! your pebbles are ready!
Reply:Have you thought about using a different subsrate? Typically where I work we use a mulch type material, unbleached paper towels, or dampened sphagnum moss. These types of material do not require continual sterlization and some such as the mulch are inexpensive. Avoid any type of gravel or turf as this will be to rough for your tree frog's sensitive skin. Though I have never worked at a zoo I have been a reptile specialist at PetSmart for 5 years. We recommend that you NEVER use any sort of soap or bleach products to do any sort of cleaning for your frog's habitat. There are products available that contain low amounts of citrus. We use a product called Citrocell that I believe is commercially available. If you do decide to use the pebbles I would recommend that type of cleaning agent. Good luck with your new pet.
Reply:What I do is put all the furnishings into the bath tub, turn the water as hot as it can go and scrub everything with a handled scrub brush, one of the tough ones. Then I rinse alll the poos and other stuff of. The I take my spraybottle which is filled with 1 part bleach to 10 parts water, (dont get it mixed up, always use less bleach than water) then I spray everything and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Then I rinse everthing again with the shower as hot as it can get. That should be good enough to kill any harful germs, bacteria and parasites that are on the items. Dont use any chemicals other than heavily diluted bleach. As you know, frogs are very sensitive to chemicals. Good luck!
Reply:The European tree frogs such as Hyla arborea are common in the middle and south of North America, and range into Asia and North Africa. The species become very noisy on the approach of rain and are sometimes kept in confinement as a kind of barometer.

In North America there are many species of tree frog, including Hyla versicolor, a species of grey tree frog, and Hyla cinerea, the American green tree frog. The spring peeper is also widespread in the eastern United States and is commonly heard on summer and spring evenings.

The tree frog is a popular name for several of the Hylidae. Hyla versicolor is the changeable tree frog, Trachycephalus lichenatus is the lichened tree frog, and T. marmoratus the marbled tree frog.

Old World treefrogs are found in India, Sri Lanka, China, SE Asia, Indonesia, Japan and the East Indies, only the genus Chiromantis is found on continental Africa. Most members of this family are arboreal. In many of these the eggs are laid under water and are pushed to the top of the water to get hatched. Some species actually lay their eggs in a tiny pool of a flower, but that mainly happens in the rainforest.

I'm looking for some help here pleas if anybody can help id be most grate full x?
Hello Maggie, sorry we have to meet this way but perhaps i can help you. Go to your local garden centre and ask for some aquarium glass sealant - it's brilliant, it's clear and does the job right , first time! It needs about 40 mins to 'go-off'' and then it would need a bulldozer to remove it. The problems with vandals could be sorted out if we chopped their damned hands off! It would only happen to a few before the other cretins cottoned on! God Bless.
Reply:I hate to say this but you had better check at the cemetary first if it is allowed, they may make you remove it. The rules are ridiculous these days. My Mum bought some silk pyjamas to be cremated in, after planning her own funeral and afterwards we found out that she wasn't allowed to be dressed in them because of 'emissions'!!!
Reply:you need a good epoxy for gluing what is likely to be 2 disimilar surfaces. Super glue deffo wont do it.

Try ARALDITE! available from any good hardware store.

comes in a double barrel tube - 1 of base 1 of hardner -mix the 2 as instructed (equal quantities) apply to both area's making sure they're clean and leave for a few hours to set properly. full cure will take a whole day - will cost u about a fiver

    Hope it works
    Reply:Go to Home despot and get some THIN SET. its for tile. Mix it an set figure with it. Clean around it with damp sponge. But if vandals want to remove it they would just kick it. Its a shame but it happens. In a place most consider HOLY GROUND%26gt;or HALLOWED%26gt;

  • Is it a joke or physical abuse?

Things have been tense between the two of us for over 2 years. There is no open communication, no matter how much I tried and in spite of counselling. He refuses to talk and comes up with excuses. He has been trying his passive-agressive tricks on me.Today we went to the garden centre and as I opened the door to come out of the car my husband decided that I pushed it too hard and left a dent on the car beside. Honestly, I did not feel pushing the door again the car. Anyway, the next second I felt his leg landed on my bum while he was saying "jesus, look what you've done". It was not sore, but I was in shock as it felt like abuse. He kept on blaming me for damaging the car and giving out as he had to move the car into a different spot then. When he came back he still did not get it that he hurt me and kept being hostile. What the hell was that? is that emotional abuse becoming physical? He apologised only after I demanded it and said I would leave him if he does not stop this behavior.

Is it a joke or physical abuse?
I say seperation is best. Or divorce if you truly have tried everything and anything and it doesn't work.
Reply:your husband sounds like he cares about everything else but you. I'd leave his ***. Only then maybe he will straiten up. good luck to you.....
Reply:Your husband is a classic abuser; he will get much worse over time and you out yourself in real danger by ignoring this and being in denial. There is NOTHING "passive" abiout kicking you in the butt over ANYTHING. He is a control freak and dangerous and if you stay, you will be hurt again, definitely. Your staying gives consent to him to continue and escalate his abuse...he wants to see how much you'll take and so far you show him you will take a great deal. Threats about leaving him mean nothing; you're still with him, right? If you were serious, you wouldn't warn him, you'd take action and just do it.

There is also verbal abuse, and you have tolerated that for the past two years; now he has taken the next step in the pattern and you have been warned. Decide now whether you want to live in fear and danger or get out while you still can and find real love that you deserve.
Reply:Cry abuse! Not all inappropriate behavior is abuse. Get over it. maybe it was a goof and you emotionally abused him playing your over sensitive crap.
Reply:Yes it is emotional, no it is not becoming physical, it has already crossed that line. That's how it works. It starts with thing abuse, throwing something, hitting a wall etc. Moves on to verbal, and finally to physical. By the time it gets to physical most women are not able to get out. My parents kidnapped me. I was fortunate, I got out. That's certainly not the norm. Most stay until their partner kills them. Run, do not walk, away from him in whatever way you have to. Unfortunately love is not enough to keep a marriage together or prevent abuse. It WILL not get better. It will get worse. Please, get out. You can easily die in this situation. If not physically, then emotionally and spiritually. It's not your fault at all. You can't make him hit you, and he started with his foot! This is about a selfish, hateful, insecure dangerous man. Get away from him and get some professional help to find out why you chose him, and why you have chosen to stay after the very first painful episode, whether that be emotional, mental, or physical. Without help, I kept picking out the same man over and over, just in different bodies and packaging. I so wish you luck. If you can, let me know how you are.

Blessed Be, and may you find Peace
Reply:If he was hostile when he did it, it was NOT a JOKE. Thats abuse. Be careful
Reply:This is abuse. He assumed you did it on purpose and therefore he struck out. A Joke? No not a joke, but the man is Paranoid, and it takes very little to set these guys off. I suggest you get out now, while you still can. Good Luck.
Reply:It was not a joke because he was genuinely mad. At the same time it's not like he hurt you physically. But it was like he was testing it out. He obviously has problems and if he is not willing to figure them out maybe you should get rid of him.
    Reply:Red flags here, honey!

Don't ignore them and don't let them grow, either...
Reply:It's a common sign of beginning abuse. Emotional or physical, they all start small and can, in some cases, lead to death by murder or suicide.
Reply:That is cruel and abusive behavior.

If he's refused counseling in the past and is now starting to kick you- get out NOW. These situations always get worse- never better.
Reply:Yes, he sounds like a bullying type....but you married him for some reason.
Reply:Yes i do think this is a type of abuse . You do not get kicked by your husband and let it go. I consider any touch that is un wanted is abuse.
Reply:Sounds like he has no interest in making things work.

My wife and I do not get into arguments where we have to threaten to leave one another. Your either in this together, or you find one of many others out there willing to treat you like you deserve.
Reply:You know... It my have actually not be physicall abuse this time... It sounds like you two need to just break it off, or at least seperate and find yourselves for a while. This situation sounds like there was a lot of tension before, and whatever made him decided that you bumped the car to hard caused him to start a scene that didn't need to happen. I don't think that this was actually meant (or really was) physical abuse, buy what you say it more sounds like he wasn't intending for him to run into you, more that the inspecting of the car caused him to do as such ( I could allways be wrong though). Either way, I think that you guys in the long run would probably be better off splitting ways... It sounds from what you say that the situation is not going to be fixable...
    Reply:AND....??
    Reply:Dump the S.O.B.

It sounds like he might get worse.

    Dog Worming and Sickness?

I gave my two Staffs worming tablets yesterday, don't have the box to hand but they are what are sold in The Range stores (DIY/Garden Centre type stores).

They are the one tablet per weight category type and as it turned out both of mine were in the 2 tablets category for their weight.

Anyway, we gave them the tablets with their food as indicated on the packet but just after midnight one of the dogs was barking really intense, very unusual as he is normally fast asleep, fearing the worst I sent the hubby downstairs to investigate and he told me the other had been sick, looked like she had actually pooed with the shape and consistency but was sick. This to me told me most of her stomach contents had been brought up. Anyway, cleaned her up, settled her, went back to bed and it started again, within an hour the other had been sick.

Does anyone have any ideas could this have been caused by the tablets, was brought to mind as they had both had the same thing. Appreciate any help.

    Dog Worming and Sickness?
As both dogs were affected in the same way, it is certain to be an effect of the tablets.

It may be a reaction to the active ingredients. Different products have different ingredients, so I would consider using something else next time.

Also when parasites die they release toxins. These toxins may have made the dogs vomit. It may be a sign the tablets did their job.
Reply:well it's a bit unusual for DIY and garden centres to be selling pet worming tablets, that's normally left for pet stores and vets.Have a read of the instructions again,it may say that the tablets could make your dog vomit.Normally worming tablets can give your pet diarrohea. If you're worried about it or the dogs vomit again, call your vet and tell him/her the brand of wormers you gave your dogs.
Reply:I'd say it was the tablets. It might be best to do the Spot on Worming instead of the tablets. If the sickness continues take them to the vet. They might be able to give them an injection or something to worm them.

It sounds too me that the tablets didn't agree with them.

    Hope this helps. xx
Reply:I wormed my dog recently and it does say that it may cause vomiting but if it's violent or persistent then contact your vet immediately, some dog's are really sensitive to worming though, we had a dog many years ago that would vomit every time we wormed her! I would take him to the vet just to be on the safe side and to put your mind at rest. Good luck.
Reply:It was the tablets as Worming tabs are notorious for doing that.

We get some from the vet which are more easily tolerated by the dog.
Reply:It was the worming tablet. This happened with my dog. I gave her Drontol worming tablet, it was ok, then three month later when I gave it to her again she was a sick as anything. It was like poo. Had I not seen her vomiting and actually being sick I would of assumed she's poo'ed. She must have vomited at least half a dozen times... vile, stinking poo type vomit.

I had to re-worm her with Melbamax and she's fine on that. I spoke to the vet nurse about it and she said that yes, something worming tablets DO make individual dogs sick. You need to remember which brand it was an NOT use that again. What I didn't understand was that I had used the same tablet before and she was ok with it then! Anyway, you will need to use a different one.

Not wanting to add another rabbit to over whelmed rescue centres.?

We were offered my hubbys daughters rabbit tonight as she has split up from her boyfriend. I have 2 at the moment, male and female, both spayed. They have the run of kitchen, utility room and hall. They have a rabbit flap to the garden 24/7 and a rabbitflap to there outside hut (complete with carpet and net curtains lol). The new one is female and about a year old. She is not used to being handled and used to a hutch (my 2 have never been in a hutch as I think they are more like prison cells for the innocent) Do you think I should leave her in the hutch for the first few days then leave her door open (under supervision) to let er explore? Any suggestions would be most welcome x

I bought some new fish from dobbies garden centre on saturday (got 3 Endler Guppies Still alive, 2 Guppies Died )and since then they have died and also 2 of my other established fish have died aswell, I have checked everything, my PH 7.0 Ammonia is 0 Nitrate 10, Nitrite is 0.3. Yet they are still dying, Im running a fluval Uno 600 63litre tank with a fluval 2plus internal filter, I have done a water change of 40% and test the water after it and the levels are perfect. could someone help me.

The fish that have died have been Red Glo-lite Tetra, a cory and also 2 guppies.

Fish are dying can someone help?
That is very strange. Try calling your local pet store, I have bad luck with fish!
Reply:Sounds like you got a hold of some sick fish and then spread it to your established fish.

Always QUARANTINE new fish. Saves you established fish.
Reply:Did you let the sealed bag float in your tank water for about 15 to 20 minutes so that the water in your tank adjust the water in the bag? If not, it's possible you could have stressed the fish which could have lead to them dying.

Did you add and water conditioner to the water after you added the fish? You are suppose to! It reduces stress if any occur after adding.

If your water reading are good like you said and you did all that I just asked when you fist got your fish then the only thing it is is that you got yourself a bad batch of fish and should try taking them back to where you brought them from to get them replaced if possible or a store credit for the death of them.

  • Let Rabbit out in Garden?

    Hi,

I've got a 9 week old dutch rabbit. She ison solids and greens at the moment such as cabbage leaves %26amp; rabbit excel.

She goes in the run on the patio at the moment but the weather is getting warmer and it woulld be nice if we could let her in the run on the lawn. Is she old enough? Please Advise.

(I have had 5 adult rabbits from rehoming centres through the years so I do know about rabbits just not babies as much!)

    Let Rabbit out in Garden?
Would she be able to escape?

If not then she would be perfectly fine. Thats nice that you adopt these rabbits! :]

    Help with my Rose?

I was given a Rose plant, only stems one it and it shot out some new green stems. The the leaves started to wilt, I think I over watered it but I had it inside as I didn't want to put it in the garden until the frost passed. Then the leaves didn't seem to pick up so I cut back the stem but now that stem that;s left seems to be darkening off and can't see any new shutes.

I am a bit concerened as to what I can do next. This is a beloved present and very sentimental and I would be devastated to lose it. I think it's okay but I just need to know what to do. I have bought some rose food for when I plant it out in a container but am very unsure right now what to do. I may take it to a garden centre for advise but I wold be grateful for any help in the meantime.

    Help with my Rose?
In my experience, this is pretty common with the little tea roses that are forced to bloom out of season. As long as you are careful with the watering (no greyish looking dirt on top is there? that's mold) and let it dry out well between watering and have it in a window where it can get at least several hours of sun a day it should perk back up.

You have no way of knowing what sort of stress it went thru before you got it. Cold trucks, many days in the dark, ect ect. The shock alone from going from a green house to your house and the trip it took is often more than enough to cause some die back.

Make sure you don't leave it in the decorative pot with no holes - if this is how you got it. You want it to be able to drain freely and not sit in water. When you do water use room temperature water %26amp; saturate then let it sit in an area where it can drain, maybe put some rocks under it to help this.

If it's starting to get fungusy looking while in the house, its getting too cold %26amp; too much moisture. Cut down on the watering, increase air flow (they like this) and try to put in a warmer area again where it can get as much sun as possible until you can plant the lil fellow.

Don't cut any more off unless you see mold on the leaves, the plant will retrieve nutrients %26amp; water from the leaves %26amp; tiny stems and when they are completely dead you can remove them gently with your fingers.
Reply:i am not up to date on roses, but this looks like a great web site that could answer your questions.

    http://hgic.clemson.edu/factsheets/hgic1...
Reply:Most roses Ive had pull through a lot. Your thinking seems correct. Replant with rose food. It may need more sunlight also. for now. If know rose variety will help. Some need more water then others. Ones planted south are usually more draught resitant, then when rains will put lot shots on. I put in rose care on web and listed about 7th is homestead.com which has lot info and some on container roses. ALSO I got great books at library once. Its very interesting all the varietis. I also learned you can use banana peels cut up in dirt and deluted dish soap to wash bugs off leaves. good luck *mamatx
Reply:If the stems are turning black, it cannot be saved. Sorry.
Reply:I would just keep it moist not real wet and try to give it as much sun as possible and maybe give it some miracle grow for roses i hope this helps.

What to do, when my neighbour stacks Creosote treated timber within a couple of metres from my home?

Over the long weekend, I noticed a distinct odour of 'Bitumen' around, and within my home. As I live on a busy road, at first I presumed it was exhaust emissions from trucks going by.

When the fumes persisted coming in through my windows (bathroom, bedroom, and laundry end) I realised it must be coming from next door! He is regularly building, and using noisy tools for prolonged periods, and on more than one previous occasion, I have suffered through intensely toxic fumes from his wood sealing. By Monday, the odours were really concerning me, and I rang the Environment Bay of Plenty 'Pollution Hot Line' feeling something must be done.(My neighbour works for this organisation). I logged my complaint, and the feedback that I got was basically, that the neighbour had purchased some creosote treated garden stakes from a garden centre, he had a pile of these, and was going to shift them, and cover them up. I was also told that they were not "toxic" - my initial reaction to the 'fumes.'

What to do, when my neighbour stacks Creosote treated timber within a couple of metres from my home?
Have you talked to him about this. He may not even be aware that it bothers you.
Reply:It's hard to believe anyone is still using anything coated with creosote - and yet I do believe it. I would have hit the roof when I was told creosote was "not toxic," because that's just not true at all.

Have you tried talking to this neighbor? You could tell him you have a "chemical sensitivity" if that would help. (You do - you are sensitive to the effects his chemicals have on your quality of life.)

There is always one neighbor who doesn't seem to know other people exist, isn't there?
Reply:its not toxic, the smell of creosote is not as bad as cow, pig or chicken dung so count your lucky stars neighbour hasn't got a farm! life's to short shut your windows and relax your doing your health no good by stressing about things that can't be avoided, if you ain't gonna die from it, then it doesn't matter. thank you for not being my neighbour. lol
Reply:It may not be toxic, but a smell can be a "nuisance", and you have every right to ask him to move the stuff and/or cover it to reduce the smell.

If you were in the U.S., I'd advise you to SUE! :-)
Reply:Creosote is toxic to some vegetation...if the lumber is on his property, you can politely ask him to move it away from your area since the smell is so bad...he's not obligated to do so, but might consider it, if in fact he is a good neighbor and you don't come across as a bit*** neighbor.

    I wish you well!
Reply:Im not trying to be smart but did you try closing your windows, and talking directly to your neighbor. Tell him you appreciate his gardening hoby and dont mind the stakes but you would like for him to consider covering them with a tarp or plastic bag or wrap. You can offer to buy this for him if he would trade you some of his fine veggies hes growing.

No need to feel like he's your enemy, or that he is an advisary. You both want the same thing to live in peace. The plastic can be like a painters plastic usually less than $5.00 to no more than $20 for a bigger type tarp at a hardware paint or tool store around here. . Hes just a neighbor and I bet if you made him this offer you'd be getting tommatoes and the like all summer and may be even some to can for Christmas.

As far as I know creosote isnt directly harmful while its curing like your discribing so dont sweat that. Just be polite and tell him you didnt mean to cause him and problems but you had concerns and now you'd like to help him seal them and you just thought it would be a good way to help him out and yourself. Just ask him if you got the plastic if he would help you cover the stakes up. Then ask him if he wouldnt mind trading you getting a few tomatoes (or what ever he has that you like or can use) to cover the cost of the tarp. If your going to buy what hes growing anyway, why not let him feel like hes doing a great job and hes helping you out as well? You both get what you want/need and your better neighbors too.

Would this work? Thats for you and the neighbor to try and work out.

What is killing my autumn bedding plants?

My primroses and cyclamen are rotting before my eyes. There is a kind of fungus in the hearts of the plants killing off the foliage and the flowers. It has spread to my tradescantia cuttings making the stems watery and weak. My pansies are unaffected but it is also on my baby chrysanthemums. I cannot identify it on fungal remedies at the garen centre...it isn't mildew and I am loathe to buy expensive preparations if I am not sure of the disease. The garden centre plants were being reduced to clear with the same disease! But he couldn't tell me what was wrong. Help!

What is killing my autumn bedding plants?
sounds like they were planted to deep and or the soil is way to wet.
Reply:Sounds like it might be rot (without seeing it it's hard to tell) - if there is overwatering and too much mulch that can happen. Contact your local Ag Extension Agent, or local Master Gardener program, and take some samples to them - they will not only be able to identify the issue, but make recommendations for solutions. (If you have a local Botanic Garden they might be able to help too.)

At the village shop this morning the following conversation:

"I think Mr. W. had the wrong newspaper delivered this morning"

    "Telephone him and ask then"

"No - we are not allowed to do that"

    "why?

"Because he might think that we are questioning his political leanings!"

    Absolutely true!

    Has the world gone mad?

If somebody rang me to ask if I had received the desired newspaper this morning - I don't know that the first thought that would cross my mind would be - "are these people trying to find out how I voted four years ago!"

A friend of mine asked the chap in the garden centre if a water feature that she had her eye on was very expensive. His reply was "I would rather not comment madam as my answer may offend your financial standing" ???

What in the name of all that is good and holy is going on?

PLEASE - I WILL NOT BE OFFENDED - JUST GIVE ME A STRAIGHT ANSWER!

Or if I am offended I shall walk out of your shop - and slam the door!

    Has PC gone too far?
On my way to work today I had to stop for a black chicken and two black baby chicks. Should I refer to them as Africian American chickens? Were they yours?
Reply:the first thing to come to my mind when I hear the word politician is liar. so how can lies be correct ?

if it's politically correct I probably don't want anything to do with it!
Reply:I'm with you. PC is the politically correct way to say hypocrite.
Reply:Aren't some, a LOT of, people tripping today?? As you say, it is ridiculous how skewed some people get in their thinking when it comes to "Political Correctness". It is however, also ridiculous how many sue happy people that are out there just lying in wait for the slightest imagined slur to file a completely frivolous lawsuit. This world has gone absolutely mad!
Reply:I think the first scenario was more of a privacy issue.

and in the second scenario - the chap was being insulting and saying in cowardly politically correct way "It's more than you can afford"

it's sad, but people have to be very careful about everything they say or else they'll get sued or lose their jobs and such
Reply:I think what it means is that sometimes, some of us take ourselves too seriously trying not the offend what WE PERCEIVE as the sensibilities of othes.

We, thusly, become quite mad in our insinuations and projections of offendings.

Reply:Yes. I saw a TV program where a couple was hiring a young woman to watch their home while they were on vacation. The homeowners stated that they were going to an Indonesian jungle to spend some time with a tribe of people and engage in cannibalism.

The young woman said that that wasn't for her, but she wouldn't judge others on what they decided was right for them.

I was partially shocked! Imaging saying that if you want to eat others, that's fine with me because I don't want to judge your actions. yes, PC has gone wayyyyyyy to far!
