Has PC gone too far?

At the village shop this morning the following conversation:

"I think Mr. W. had the wrong newspaper delivered this morning"

"Telephone him and ask then"

"No - we are not allowed to do that"

"why?

"Because he might think that we are questioning his political leanings!"

Absolutely true!

Has the world gone mad?

If somebody rang me to ask if I had received the desired newspaper this morning - I don't know that the first thought that would cross my mind would be - "are these people trying to find out how I voted four years ago!"

A friend of mine asked the chap in the garden centre if a water feature that she had her eye on was very expensive. His reply was "I would rather not comment madam as my answer may offend your financial standing" ???

What in the name of all that is good and holy is going on?

PLEASE - I WILL NOT BE OFFENDED - JUST GIVE ME A STRAIGHT ANSWER!

Or if I am offended I shall walk out of your shop - and slam the door!

Has PC gone too far?
On my way to work today I had to stop for a black chicken and two black baby chicks. Should I refer to them as Africian American chickens? Were they yours?
Reply:the first thing to come to my mind when I hear the word politician is liar. so how can lies be correct ?

if it's politically correct I probably don't want anything to do with it!
Reply:I'm with you. PC is the politically correct way to say hypocrite.
Reply:Aren't some, a LOT of, people tripping today?? As you say, it is ridiculous how skewed some people get in their thinking when it comes to "Political Correctness". It is however, also ridiculous how many sue happy people that are out there just lying in wait for the slightest imagined slur to file a completely frivolous lawsuit. This world has gone absolutely mad!
Reply:I think the first scenario was more of a privacy issue.

and in the second scenario - the chap was being insulting and saying in cowardly politically correct way "It's more than you can afford"

it's sad, but people have to be very careful about everything they say or else they'll get sued or lose their jobs and such
Reply:I think what it means is that sometimes, some of us take ourselves too seriously trying not the offend what WE PERCEIVE as the sensibilities of othes.

We, thusly, become quite mad in our insinuations and projections of offendings.

For God's Sake, there's just some people who drive things into the ground with their incessant need to make things perfect and finite.
Reply:I see by these 'serious questions' that the famed MacIver has admitted defeat and given up the hen hoose. hehehehehehehe
Reply:PC has gone to far and you're always stepping on someone's toes without ever meaning to. The problem is by the time you figure out what the correct thing to do is, they change it.
Reply:Yes. I saw a TV program where a couple was hiring a young woman to watch their home while they were on vacation. The homeowners stated that they were going to an Indonesian jungle to spend some time with a tribe of people and engage in cannibalism.

The young woman said that that wasn't for her, but she wouldn't judge others on what they decided was right for them.

I was partially shocked! Imaging saying that if you want to eat others, that's fine with me because I don't want to judge your actions. yes, PC has gone wayyyyyyy to far!
Reply:The world was always crazy. It's just that you are getting saner.
