Landlord and I doing Property Development?

My landlord owns plenty of homes and rents them out. Each home is a state. They are cold, damp, bleak, crumbly. The homes are Victorian and have around 3 - 4 bedrooms each and are within a town centre. All homes also have gardens! I would love to get into Property Development and I was wondering if it is worth asking my landlord if he'd go into business with me. I have qualifications in architecture and interior design so I reckon I could deal with a lot of the work myself.

My landlord is so laid back (he doesnt notice a months missing rent) and I don't think he wants these houses anymore. How would I go about asking him?

The houses are in that state because a lot of landlords don't care a jot about the houses or the tenants, he is making good money from these with minimal outlay, why would he want to pay you to spend his money, don't bet on him not missing a months rent, most are very astute, that is how they got the houses in the first place.
Reply:I cant see him going for that, he already owns the houses and you expect him to give away equity just because you know how to decorate ? If they were derelict and you were a builder maybe, but you proposal sounds a bit one sided.

Oh in that case, get some cards made up and hand him one next time you see him. Don't be to pushy just let him know you re available and let him think its his idea.
Reply:If you don't ask - you don't get! However - cold and damp takes a lot more to sort out than cosmetic improvements so make sure you have the skills, his capital and a watertight employment contract bfeore you give up your day job. Good luck! :-))
