History of Peshawar(pakistan)?

Peshawar valley is one of the most colorful city of Pakistan and the capital city of North West Frontier Province.Peshawar (known as Purushapura in the old days of Indian history) is a city in Pakistan 's North-West Frontier Province , near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass.





Peshawar used to be the capital of the Gandhara empire by Kaniska in 58 BC . Being among the ancient cities of the country, it has been a centre for centuries of trade between the Indian Subcontinent, Afghanistan, and central Asia.





The main sights in town and in its sorroundings are, Peshawar Museum, the old city, the Qisa Khawani Bazar, the spectecular architecture of Masjid Mohaabt Khan, the Fort Bala-Hissaar, Islamia College, Peshawar University, Rose Garden of Agriculture University Peshawar.





Peshawar has many Afghan refugees. From Peshawar you can visit the Khyber Pass, which still is the most important pass between central Asia and the Indian subcontinent.

Peshāwar (Urdu: پشاور; Pashto: پښور) literally means City on the Frontier in Persian and is known as Pekhawar in Pashto. It is the provincial capital of Pakistan's North-West Frontier (NWFP) Province as well as the capital of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.[1] Located on the edge of the Khyber Pass, Peshawar is the commercial, economic, political and cultural capital of the Pakistani frontier and, particularly, of the Pashtuns.
