Nice places to live in Manchester?

Hoping to move to Manchester....somewhere to the North of the city (preferably) but not as far as Bolton, but still a decently priced taxi ride away from the city centre. My boyf has lived in Salford b4 (went uni there) but i'm not so sure....want a house with a garden/yard not a swanky city centre apartment or anything. Any suggestions?

Nice places to live in Manchester?
The Heaton park area of Prestwich is very nice, really quiet with lots of amenities and is only a short bus/tram ride from City Centre. There is a low crime rate here compared to the rest of Manchester and it's very family orientated. And there are quite a few small terraced houses with nice yards %26amp; gardens up to rent right now.Mail me if you want any info/help.
Reply:Manchester is a great place to live as a student, but I wouldn't bother considering living there again. Chorlton (M21) and Didsbury (M20) are *perhaps* worth considering if you insist on living in Manchester. Both neighbourhoods are well connected by bus with the city centre. Otherwise, consider nearby places east of Manchester. Glossop, Hatfield or one of the other villages along this railway are nice and it's only 30 minutes by train to the city centre.
Reply:I live in Bury, it is about 6 miles away from the centre of Bolton and its a nice area to live. They are starting to build a huge shopping centre and cinema here so it is up and coming area. Bury is in between Bolton and Prestwich. Munki mentioned there and i agree it is a lovely place to live. The people who say Manchester is full of crime are wrong, there are some really nice parts of Manchester to live in.
Reply:Salford is OK around the Quays. Other than that look at Didsbury. It can be rather posh and up market there. I know someone who lives in Hulme, close enough to the city centre to walk if you are energetic. Nice houses and flats. Lots of young professionals live there now, and it is close to the university.

Hope you find somewhere nice. xx
Reply:Fallowfield, Burnage, Didsbury, Withington are some of the area with good amenities and close to the city centre. Bus route are good every 5 mins you will get buses going towards city centre. House prices are not too bad as well.
Reply:Parts of Tameside are lovely, but they’re more to the East of Manchester. To be honest, you won't find many nice places to live in North Manchester unless you go up as far as Bury. You’d be better of sticking to East or South.
Reply:Prestwich is very posh.
Reply:My uncle used to line in Broughton, that was a nice area, plenty shops but not like city centre, lots of green areas, parks etc round there. Have a fly through on googe maps
Reply:Hahaha! Oh, you've made my day!

Get away from Manchester, stay in the suburbs!

Reply:the nearest nice place is Birmingham!
Reply:Wow i feel sorry for you, Manchester is a horrible placein general! I should know, i was there on Sunday!

Reply:it might have been good as a student but think again .
